why do methodist churches only have the cross on display in their churches and never the crucific like rc and c/e churches

It was pretty radical at the time it was installed, and the Parish Priest got a little negative reaction but most of the congregation warmed to it when he explained that it represented the risen Christ, rather than the dead suffering one.
It is a difference of approach between these two branches of the Christian faith - the Catholics believe that the suffering of Christ on earth is central to our redemption and it should be seen as a constant reminder of his agonies to save our souls.
The Anglican church prefers to believe that the optimism and hope for salvation is best shjown by the cross with Christ absent - already risen and in heaven, which is where we all aspire to follow by living good lives.
As advised, there are variations - some high Anglican churches show a cross with Christ still crucified, but the broad themes are the norm.
