anyone had problems with the latest offering from microsoft today (4.3.09) 20 updates to down load !!
they were all for microsoft home office 2007.
had to restart pc to complete installation but it went into system repair mode on restart which meant updates had to be re-installed as pc was re-instated onto yesterdays settings!
i dont mind updates as it keeps pc secure, but they are a pain in the a*** !

Yes, me too. I've had to download and intall loads of updates for things I've never heard of and Windows is unable to install one of them but continually nags me that there is one waiting to be intalled! As you say, what a pain in the a***!

I'm seriously thinking of installing Linux instead.

Have no knowledge of Linux at all i'm afraid.
Overall i'm happy with Windows Vista Home Basic but it is all the updates that cheeses me off especially when the PC has to be re-started every time. Obviously you have a choice of which updates to install, but half the time i don't know what i'm downloading from them. I think they have a captive audience with most of us !!!
