I pick my own as well as lucky dips.
I don't know how many times I have had one number away from winning a nice prize.Especially when it comes to the Hot Picks.I have won a Hot Pick 3 two or three times.
But, when it comes to winning a Hot Pick 4,I have had the first three numbers and the last number is, more often than not, one number away.I find that so annoying!!
Is there a system? Well,I really don't know about that.
So, I can't help you there I'm afraid.
I have drastically cut down on buying the Lottery tickets nowadays though.Very rare I buy tickets for the Wednesday draw now.
Although,I think I'll give this 85 EuroMillion superdraw a go!

We used to buy 8 tickets and cover the numbers 1 to 49 once on each. This means that whatever the first ball was that came out of the machine, we had it (unless it was 49 of course)
This meant that we were trying to match 5 numbers each week instead of 6, which worked out at odds of about 1 million to one instead of 14 million to 1 to win the jackpot.
We won a few quid but didn't win the jackpot or anything close though.

Sorry I meant to say "covered the numbers 1 to 48".
A scheme that I believed was tried was to wait until a big rollover, mostly in the early days of the lottery, than have a syndicate buy every combination.
So you spend 14m to win 26m. The downside with this was if another syndicate had the same idea.
