Voting
I'm not going to be at home on thursday - the day of the election. Can I vote anywhere else? i.e. I live in Essex, but I'm going to be in Croydon that day. Would I be able to take my voting card with me and do it there?

You are on the electoral role in your constituency of residence, which means your vote is for your consituency MP. The party with the most MPs forms the government (except if there's a hung parliament, where there is no overall majority).
If you had applied in writing, you could have had a postal vote which would allow you to vote in advance. Polling stations are open until 9.00 pm (I think). Any chance you can get back to your own consituency by then?
