Is it true that you can catch a cold purely by standing in the rain or being exposed to bad weather. Or are you just lowering your immune system

You cannot catch a virus from a temperature! You can get a chill or hypothermia, which are caused by low temperature, but not a cold. In fact, one of the best places to go to avoid colds is somewhere really cold, since the virus cannot survive in extreme temperatures.
I agree with Waldo. But...... going quickly form a warm environment into a cold one (someone once told me) can cause an increased risk of infection to the lungs and breathing passage - nose, throat, lungs etc.
Agreeing with Waldo.. They used to say 'Don't go out in the rain or you'll catch your death of cold' And it was well meant. But nowadays we realizse that colds are caught from other people. The easiest way to catch a cold is getting on buses, doing shopping, going in and out of public offices and especially sitting in the doctor's waiting room.
