Ditto puddicat..lol. But they still have to ask, I s'pose its a matter of who's life to save eh? I has a piece of chocolate stuck once, the feeling is so scary when you cant breath. My youngest son swallowed a sweet when he was 3. My daft MIL gave it to him and when he started choking she ran to get him a glass of water and drunk it herself!! I put him between my legs, turned him upside down, slapped him between his shoulder blades and fortunatly the sweet dislodged. I was crying with relief after.
I know how to do it, but never done it myself.
Saw it done at a formal dinner once - the lady on the next table started to choke, and the guy four seats down on the other side calmly came round, dragged her chair back, applied the manoevre, and she spat out a large wodge of food, and went from bright red back to her normal colour.
We all thought how brave he was to perform this on a complete stranger, but it turned out it was his wife, and they were at a business dinner where everyone has to sit away from their guest!
