wounding with intent
I was followed into the toilets by 2 men one had a glass with him and he blocked the door they became agressive as i turned to face one i was hit in the face with the glass and both men attacked me with several blows i was knocked to the floor and they proceeded to kick and stamp on me until i was unconcious.
I recieved several cuts to the face and head, abroken nose, one eye closed ,fractured cheek bone, broken jaw,two broken ribs and also bruising over my head and body.
both have been arrested and placed on bail.the police are looking to charge them with wounding with intent what do you think the punishment will be in court?

Let's also assume that they try to get off by pleading not guilty. (Which seems to be far more likely). Those assumptions are because the relevant document, which judges refer to, provides guidance on sentencing first time offenders convicted after a trial. (Judges can then adjust the sentences downwards when the defendant pleads guilty or upwards if it's not a first offence).
Your description of events suggests that the offence falls into the category defined as "Pre-meditated wounding or
GBH involving the use of a weapon acquired prior to the offence and carried to the scene with specific intent to injure the victim (but not resulting in a life threatening injury or particularly grave injury)". That means that the judge should use a 'starting point' of 8 years custody, with a sentencing range available of between 7 and 10 years custody.

Thank you for your reply's,both men have admitted following me into the toilets and also one taking his glass with him, they have admitted the punching but are not admitting the glassing which they say must have broke on the floor and i rolled in it with my face.
They also deny the kicking and stamping but forensics have proved from blood on their shoes that this was not the case. One man first denied being involved but then changed his story on second interview.
They tried to say it was self defence but they have no cuts or bruising as this was not the case and also if it was they would have been in serious trouble as i was 4 times National karate champion.
