PLEASE drop the 'brigade', shako! Can't we make you see how horrible it makes even the best sentiments? And being horrible to people that don't even want work, or perhaps even life, for sometimes very tragiv reasons, is NOT one of those best sentiments!

what about applying to be an advisor at the citizens advice? they're always looking for intelligent, articulate people to work in a voluntary capacity. or a volunteer at your local hospice, they need all sorts of skills and it's a very social atmosphere, not in the least depressing.
