Can a head gasket just go just like that?? We bought a car last Monday and the head gaskets gone... Do you think the seller knew it was going? Any advice please thanks.
You might get possible signs that the head gasket is on it's way out....Sludgey foam.. floating in your radiator would indicate oil is getting past the head gasket....but this is one of the checks you should do when buying a second hand car.
Having to keep topping your coolant up is another....and white smoke from your exhaust would also indicate a leaking gasket...also a misfire when idling.
The seller may have knew...and just wanted rid before the problem became expensive...but by the same token...I've known them to go with no indication whatsoever...
Cheers for that.... I no I need to be knowledge able with cars.. Just trusted the person selling it as it was family... So good to no that they may not have known so thanks alot for the info :)
