Does anybody know if you need planning permission for a loft conversion new rules came in October last year and again in January this year can anybody shine a light on this subject Thanking you in anticipatian for any news

I believe it depends on the cubic size of the conversion, how far out from the roofline it will extend, and whether it will overlook a highway or a neighbour's property.

Your best bet is probably to contact your local council's planning department with details of the conversion you intend to undertake; they should be able to let you know whether you'll need permission or not.
not changing the outside structure of the house i would of thought you would have to apply for buildings and regulations.
