The battery on my old rover 216 went flat and now I can't start the car after recharging the battery. The buttons on the key fob don't de-activate the immobiliser. I have been told that you can reset the key / immobiliser by a combination of key turns in the doorlock. Can anyone throw a bit more light on this. TIA

yes firstly disconnect the battery then wait thirty secs secondly put key in ignition then turn then re lock the car doors then re connect the battery wait three mins then try opening doors with key not fob then re lock doors wait thirty secs and then try again. hope this is helpful.
I don't know if this will work on a Rover but, on my old Vauxhall you put the key in the ignition, turned it on without starting it, then press the lock button on the fob followed by the unlock button. This reset the fob to the car. AS I said, this was for a Vauxhall.
