Splitting wooden table
5 Answers
My wooden table top has begun to split on the top / side. It is slowly getting longer. The split is visible. How can I repair it? and prevent it from happening again.

Only way I can think of is to screw a batten underneath across the crack to hold things together.
A carpenter may have some better ideas.
If it's relatively new you could go back to the seller.

It looks like a deep dark red coloured wood, but this is just varnish and stainer as I saw other furniture being made at this place. To be honest I don't know what wood it is. It looks like panels, light (pine) coloured wood. But it's really heavy in weight.
Thanks for your answers, I've heard that central heating is a massive problem to wood furniture.
