i no what your saying but i feel so guilty
Don't worry about it. The Canary was, in effect trespassing and your mutt was just protecting his territory. Animals do such things, it's not as though the dog is human and has a conscience. Nice romantic tale to tell the kid though.
My dog nearly got hold of next doors neighbourly cat the other week! I know you probably don't find it amusing zzxxee but its made me laugh! I would keep quiet!
My dog nearly got hold of next doors elderly cat the other week (it was trespassing)! I know you probably don't find it amusing zzxxee but its made me laugh! I would keep quiet!

im not a cat lover so your tale is fairly funny caj but its the little girls face she looks so sad ..
God that posted the first one too (thought I had managed to stop it) I don't know why I wrote next doors neighboulry cat instead of elderly lol!
My dog killed a lizard and brought it up to me, dropping it at my feet. He was so pleased with himself and thought he was doing me an enormous favour. I told him he was a "bad boy" and so he rolled onto his back in one of those helpless, submissive poses, in an effort to make ME feel sorry for HIM. Priceless!

lol no mercy x
My Dog kills birds all the time. He rips them up and leaves their guts all over the house.
If the little girl is consoled by the belief that tit has flown away to fin a girlfriend, why disillusion her?
It would only bring her grief, and her parents too.
Everyone will get over it more quickly this way.
I realise you feel guilty, but telling the little girl the truth won't make you feel better, quite the reverse.

ok so i will be a big fat stinking liar to protect a little girl and to save myself lol havent got a lot of choice have i peeps ???
I'd stick with the big fat stinking lie.

When my cat murdered a budgie, which I subsequently discovered came from several doors down, I kept my trap shut and was just relieved that no one had seen the budgie feathers plastered all the way round my dining room.

Not as bad as my cat's brother though. He went home one day with a love bird. The next day it came home with its mate!!!
according to the landlords of the pub next door my puma (sorry cat) managed to break into the locked stable, scale an avairy, peel off the chicken wire and kill all their birds.............

i'd love to of seen the hairy sh!bag do something that energetic!

As I often say, crudely, sh*t happens !!!

Look at it this way, it's not your fault that the unfortunate tweetie pie fluttered into your little garden and disturbed your Deputy Dawg who decided to mete out some summary justice to the intruder, is it ???

Of course, now that you've told all of us and admitted your mutt's heinous crime, we must decide his fate, mmmmhhhh ???

Community service, methinks !! I hereby sentence the miscreant to an immediate and comprehensive course in ornithology in order that his indiscretion with our feathered friends can never be repeated !!!

There ! All done ! Feel better, now? Justice has prevailed !!!
Yep. Keep quiet.
I would tell the parents because they may be blaming the little girl for leaving the cage open.
