Corporate Sponsorhip of Charity Events

I'm trying to organise a charity event where my Cheerleading team swims the equivalent of the english channel in our local pool. I'm trying to find a company to cover the costs of the pool hire for us, but I think it'd be a lot more effiient if I had any idea what companies did this kind of thing. Any clues?

I would just mail all the local businesses in your area. From the corner shop to the biggest factory. Get your members to personally deliver the letters.
In the present climate you are unlikely to get any one organisation to sponsor you the full amount, especially when publicity will be very local. But small contributions may be forthcoming.
