hannes macaw
2 Answers
My hannes macaw is just over 18months old and just recently her chest is minus a few feathers .I don't know if she pulled them out herself. She is not bored as I am at home all day she has variety of toys and gets out for about 2 hours every day. She is very tame and talks well. Any ideas why this is happening Thanks

Hahn's macaws are not known for plucking so if there is a competent avian vet nearby it will be well worth a visit.
A simple bloodtest will determine whether the problem is physical or not.

i have a amazon that started plucking under her wings.which are now bald.she has like your parrot lots of toys and gets lots of attention but still continues to do it.the avian vet we went to told us it was comon in birds kept in captivity.he fitted her with a coller which prevents her from reaching under her wings.we take it off every now and then when she has a bath ect but she always goes for her wing again which can end up coverd in blood.its really sad that she has to wear it permanent.but she still sings and squarks the house down every day so at least i think she is happy.hope your problem does not go as far as mine.goodluck
