Fuss about a Negro president?

I just got to wondering!
Why is the world praising America for having a Negro president?
Surely it would be more appropriate if in fact they were to have an Native Indian President?
That might show that america has at last grown up, as they owe more to them, than the negros.
And they've killed more.

What does it matter what colour or race he is? As long as he does a good job I dont care, I believe he will at least do a better job than Gordon Brown is right now for us & Bush did before him!

Also the word negro isnt generally used in this day and age - black tends to better recieved.

You have to remind yourself just how amazingly parochial most of the USA is. That's the reason why Obama's election is worth comment.

It means that, for the first time ever, a black American child can grow up with the hope that he or she too might one day become President of the United States.

Although I agree with most of what has been said, remember that the native Americans were almost wiped out. There are only a few thousand left, so I would like to see one day, that an American Indian�s child would be able to be the President of America. Only then will I believe that America has grown up.

as was mentioned before heisn't even a proper black. and the parent whioch is black (can't remember which it is) wasn't even a black american whose ancestors were freed as slaves which would be more profound, they were african.

plus isn't anyone worried about his arab family. racist people who wanted to assasinate him are more likely to know that they know that arent they?
