how many people know of the Radio 4 UK Theme?

It plays every morning at about 0531 on R4, at the point when the BBC World service hands over to R4 for the daytime. It is a melange of classic folk and trad tunes from GB, ending in a rousing chorus of Rule Britania. I have to take medication at 0400 and i always manage to listen to it, it lasts barely 4 min, but i won't settle down until i hear it. It is very stirring and patriotic. anyone else bothered about it?

I know this music and have got an MP3 version of it.  It comprises of 'what shall we do with a drunken sailor?', 'Rule Britannia' and a few other tunes. If I hear it it's because I haven't yet gone to bed.

Radio 4 plays Sailing By every day.

I'd rather hear a single piece of music than the medley with short excerpts of well known longer pieces. Give me the shipping forcast any day.

Differing tastes i know. But i like the uk theme because it cleverly juxtaposes at least 2 tunes at a time very cleverly, with some nice maths in it and it sounds as though i have heard it for ever.alas but each to their own.
