(Apologies for the late post this evening. We got taken out unexpectedly for tea for Mothering Sunday.)

Mr E Guest took you all on a hike this weekend, but how many were able to keep up?

I can now reveal that the links were:

FRENCH chalk
Flint STONE(S)
Sand CASTLE
Mud FLAP(S)

You were very lucky because Mr E very generously concealed a few clues again this weekend, but we cannot bank on that happening every week. You may be on your own for the last one.

Did you too stand on the chalk and look out over 'La Manche' to France?
Did Fred and Wilma suggest an answer to you?
What did you make of Roy ______ , trumpeter and record breaker? and the largest house in Windsor is a ______ ?
Falmer, Lewes And Peacehaven Strollers = FLAPS
. . . but lots of red herrings as well.

Of course, there is always good old ESP to fall back on when guessing the links, so who were the lucky ones this week? Read on . . .

All the rocks tumbled within the first 3 minutes - but not to the same person!

First player, beejay immediately snaffled FLINT STONES and MUD FLAPS for 4 points.
fordward, Dinkypuzzled, slaney, Dustybun, Strix & grenmus were all within two minutes gained bonus points for the first of those.
slaney & Dustybun also took a bonus on the second of those.

Surprise surprise! slaney & Dustybun were on a roll(ing stone) and picked up SAND CASTLE for yet another 2 points making 6 in total for both of them.
For being just ahead, and therefore first with three hits, I declare slaney
***HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK***
Is there any stopping her?

lysander, grenmus & wickedtongue were also quick enough to get bonus points for 'Sand Castle'

The final link of FRENCK CHALK was wisely spotted by entrant #8, Strix, at 9:03 and slightly later by wickedtongue for 2 points each

Mention should also be made of cliffyg who managed three hits but too late (at 9:13) for any bonus points.

Single and double hits were clocked up by other players throughout the weekend.

This weeks points are therefore:

6 points: Dustybun, slaney
4 points: beejay1124, grenmus, Strix, wickedtongue
3 points: cliffyg
2 points: deecee131, Dinkypuzzled, fordward, lysander, roslyn251254
1 point: 9 players

The leaderboard after 3 weeks looks like this:

on 11 points and 3 points ahead of the pack is slaney
then:
8 points: beejay1124
7 points: Dustybun
6 points: Dinkypuzzled, Grenmus
5 points: Jools, wickedtongue

4 points: 5 players
3 points: 3 players
2 points: 12 players
1 point: 8 players

Two things will be decided next week: The winner for March and the setter for April.

Well done Slaney!...just think you are on Mr E's wavelength!
Thanks gen2.
I ,of course, am on a different wavelength altogether!!!
well I missed all the clues so ofcourse scored zero
many thanks
jan
Rubbish for me again this week...remaining consistent.
Well done slaney and Dustybun and of course to all the other points scorers.
Thanks to gen2 and misterE.

PS Pauline, is the next Dragonfly out yet ?
Well done, Slaney
I kicked myself something rotten immediately after having put down MudLark as I had already in the preambles highlighted the spurious F,L,A,P,S. initials and with instant hindsight, too late, knew that is what it had to be for MUD!!
Such is life!!
I had wondered why you had changed your mind on that one Strix
Mr E Guest, I hadn't changed my mind, I just didn't pause to think and went feet first into the mud as a lark and without my flaps.
Memo, Strix, engage brain before hitting "submit"
I was thinking that very thing, Pauline!

A good week for the Irish - next week may be a different matter.

Thanksgen2/Mr E
Good heavens to Murgatroyd! Dusty on the leaderboard!
That was really exciting. Thank you gen2 and Miss Tree-Guest. Looking forward to next week's red herrings!
