Mondeo central locking

One of the rear door locks on my W reg Mondeo does not respond to the central locking, either fob or key, but opens and shuts when I operate the lever manually. Do I need a complete new lock or is there a sensor that can be replaced ? Is it within the capabilities of a fairly keen DIYer or should I have it done professionally? If the latter would an auto electrician be a better bet ?

Thanks again all you very helpful people.

Yes you have an electrical fault which could be anywhere between the central remote locking unit and the door locking servo motor.  If you borrow a Haynes you can trace the wiring to the doorlock and look for 12V between the wire and earth (usually any bare metal or fixing) when you operate the central locking, this should tell you where the problem is.  To check for 12V use a small car bulb connected between the wire and earth.  If this is not what you can do then I'm sorry but you need to see a lecky.
