I have a circular glass top picnic table that has rusted beyond recovery.
Any ideas on how/where I could use the perfect 1m diameter glass top instead of taking it to the tip with the rusty frame?

I supose you could take it to a Glassworks and have it cut down to a square piece and make a cold-frame for your plants.

I think it'll be toughened so that wouldn't cut.
I've seen mirrors used in magazine gardens so I was thinking of something creative or decorative for it. Maybe I can paint the back of it with something (any ideas?) & hang it on one of the sides of our wooden pergola thingy with the honeysuckle growing round it.

Instead of taking the frame to the tip, you could try this, which works a treat. Wire brush the frame to remove loose rust, and rust flakes. Then paint it with Hammerite's Kill Rust, which stops the rust eating into the frame. Then paint the frame with Hammerite which is touch dry in half-an-hour. Black or White giving really good results, but there are other colours. I have used this on 50 year old garden gates, which are still going strong. Well worth a bit of effort to restore your picnic table, and also do your bit for the environment, by keeping the frame out of the landfill.

I should have done that last year!
It's probably past the point of no return where water has lain on the glass & rusted the edge support.

What about getting a really nice big pot and putting the glass on the top so it become a little side table.. Maybe one of those big flowery chinese pots?

If the glass is 5mm thick it probably is`nt toughened. A glass merchant could soon find out for you.
