Bring your own alcohol ?

If you go for a meal where the alochol policy is bring your own- can someone under 18 drink as they are not being sold the alcohol and there is no licence etc? Thinking of taking our under 17 (nearly all now 17) for a curry and taking some beers with us as they all go out drinking now anyway. TIA

Yes.

Even at a licensed restaurant, a 17 yr old can consume alcohol with a table meal.

But remember ... it is an offence to give alcohol to a child under the age of 5.

Not sure, Shazza but I think you are still guilty of SUPPLYING alcohol to a minor. Take your point about them doing it anyway, though

Some of them do behave like 5 year olds at times- think a way round the supplying side of things is if I get each parent to buy some and they then bring it themselves

No problem at all. It is illegal to give alcohol to under 5s, except in a medical emergency, but it is perfectly for a 17 year old to drink alcohol
