if someone went to court for shoplifting and was given a year discharge, then after the discharge period is caught again are the police allowed to submit previous shoplifting to courts and bring them up when questing the shoplifter

not sure but they probably deserve a bloody good clout round the ear for being a thieving ****
The police can bring it up in interview. however, the interview should be edited to remove any details of previous convictions which should not be before the court on a not guilty plea unless the Prosecution have made a bad character application. If the plea (or finding) is guilty, then the previous convictions are placed before the sentencing bench.
