My wife is from Mauritius and I have been there twice, the second time in May. The sea is always clear although they do have seasons. May is usually very nice but like anywhere else Mauritius is subject to climate change, expect some rain.

Remember that as it is in the southern hemisphere, May will actually be in the cooler half of the year - I hesitate to say winter as it is tropical and so basically hot to warm all the time. The sea close to the shore is protected by reefs all round, and seems to be like swimming inside a postcard of white sand and turquoise water all year round. It is just fabulous. If you go beyond the reef I expect conditions will vary but the local diving trip providers will tell you.
