My partner and I divide our time between our two separate houses (150 miles apart). Because he is a sports addict he pays for SKY by satellite in both locations. Broadband has just arrived at my place; could he now cancel 'my' subscription and get his fix via my PC because he genuinely has a valid subscription?

He could buy a slingbox which would allow him to watch his own tv, including recordings on a hard drive recorder such as a Sky box, from anywhere in the world where he has internet connection.

That is a very interesting site Barry - are you connected?, I wonder if there would be an installer locally. Both myself and my partner are the opposite of techno-nerds, (techno-prats?)and would undoubtedly **** everything up if we tried doing anything with wires and buttons ourselves.
I don't have it but my mate does - it is fantastic! It shouldn't be too hard to set up, but remember his router will have to be on while he is away.
You can change channel and everything - exactly as if you are at home. This might be handy for you
