what triggers an attack? i have gallstones and am on waiting list to see consultant to have gall bladder removed. in the meantime, i'm avoiding all things containing more than a trace of fat, but still find i'm getting attacks. Does anyone have any suggestions on what foods to avoid or try? please?
It is tricky Janine. I was advised to avoid fatty food which I did but I always remember my worst attack happened after I'd eaten an apple! Fats can make it worse but it is hit and miss I'm afraid. I hope you get it sorted soon as it's horrible isn't it? I had my gallbladder removed about 10 years ago now and it was a real relief not to have to worry about what might or might not trigger an attack
they reckon it is fatty food but i also avoided fatty food and it still bothered me. best thing that ever happened was having the op to remove it. i can eat anything now.
The thing that made me laugh was that I went into hospital the day before my operation and they gave me macaroni cheese for lunch! Now how fatty is that?
Thanks bensmum. I had a terrible attack this afternoon which seemed to resolve itself much quicker than usual, and this was after eating a plum and a few grapes. I'd eaten my lunch 3 hours earlier so was sure that wasn't the cause. Think perhaps avoiding fruit is the way forward.
I hope you get it sorted soon Janine - I think I'd rather have had another baby than put up with that pain! Do you have decent painkillers for it? Your GP should be able to give you some fairly strong ones
