whats the difference between baking - paper/parchment and grease proof paper thankyou

baking (parchment) paper is treated with silicone so the stuff you have cooked doesn't stick. I use this all the time & ran out last week....well, forgot to buy it the previous day! so used greaseproof paper instead & oh boy did I have a problem getting my biscuits off the paper. Have you thought of buying that silicone bakeware, loaf tin, ones for doing a victoria sandwich cake etc etc, they are very good & need no greasing. hope this helps

thanx thelewisgang i have got a couple of silicone and they r very good not got all the shapes yet have to save the pennies i was thinking more of icing on parchment paper and for lining as well

forgot to say what the heck do they sell grease proof for then
well, I use greaseproof paper for craft work!!!!! I do many sewing crafts & often have to copy patterns off pages of books & with greaseproof paper its thin enough to see through so it makes life easier. Many years ago, my mum used to wrap my sandwiches for school in greaseproof paper - that was before cling film was around. Icing would be fine on parchment/baking paper. Cheapest/best value is either Wilkinsons or Asda. good luck!

thanx the lewis gang asked in asda and they didnt know what iwas talking about when i asked for parchment i think parchment would be ok for anything to do with cooking etc to make u laugh iasked for where the pearl barly was and they took me to orange and lemon barley drink was i think its the youngsters that dont have to cook anymore
