KM Links Game - March week 4

Good morning everyone - are we all ready for the final week of this contest ??

I'll do my best to post this thread to appear as close to 6.30am as possible, and then the night owls can post the link words for us to attack.

The online availability of this crossword means there may be any number of people ready to post as soon as this comes up and that time frame is something we may have to look at.

As usual the contest stays open till midnight Sunday and the results will be posted as soon after the matches are known as I possibly can.

There are no restriction on word lengths, anyone is more than welcome to try their hand and I wish everyone Good Luck as it could be a very close thing.

Now - will it post for me or won't it - fingers crossed !!!

Thinking again about the points scoring. Really don't think it a good idea to change the scoring for MM as the links are entirely in the hands of the setter for that game and can't be previewed before the 'off'. Unfortunately whatever is done it can't be an entirely level playing field. Those who can't post early are penalised under the present system, but equally those who can't or choose not to post early would have an advantage in any other system as they can make their choices from all that has gone before, thus penalising the early posters who rely solely on their own efforts.

Very glad to see we live in a democracy here, I wasn't too sure earlier on.

I like the Eccles Treaty too - it does provide the nearest thing to a level playing field for everyone and no-one has to be out of bed at ridiculous hours if they are unable or don't want to.

Next question - do we go with the Eccles Treaty as it stands or consider the Hewit Amendment to the aforesaid Treaty ??

Perhaps I'll post this along with the scoring systems for both later on this evening [my time] and then people will get a better opprtunity to think about it and comment.

Steff ~ in case I'm not around later on, I have scratched my head thoroughly and the Eccles+Hewat Treaty ticks all my boxes. It should be easier all round ~ hopefully!

The idea that people coming later on don't have to put the effort in is a bit shaky. If you are entrant No 23 (eg) you could in theory have 4 x 22 ideas to choose from. I don't think anyone would bother - it's still a game of chance (unless of course you are a DT reader - but I won't go there again!!!!)

I also feel that KM and MM should be different. The 9 am start for MM means more people are around and on the occasions that I am, I really enjoy the good humoured 8.45-9.00 banter and frenzy of typing!! Long may they both thrive!
