Frost Free Freezer - any recommendations?
3 Answers
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of buying an upright frost free freezer. Does anyone have any recommendations or brands to avoid. I know you'll say how much do you want to spend .. so I would say I'm currently looking up to mid price range such as Bosch, although sometimes you can stumble upon a decent offer with higher price brands such as Miele. Any advice gratefully received.

Doesn't seem to make much difference on the brand. I have had a Hotpoint Iced Diamond one for a number of years. It did go wrong just after the guarantee ran out (as they do lol) and had to have new termostats put in but it has been good since then. The only thing I don't like with them is the noise they make, as they have fans running in them for most of the time.
I agree with theshedman they are very noisy especially at night when the fan goes on and off all the time. Luckily I have a large bungalow and the bedrooms and kitchen are quite a distance apart. If you live in a house and the bedroom is over or near the kitchen, I would check on the noise rating of the appliance. Not having to defrost is a huge advantage, but I don't know if I would buy one again unless I could find a quieter model.
