leaking radiator

Removed Radiator to decorate behind and when reconnected had minor leak.Twin entry system,turned Rad off screwed down flow valve, leak from flow. drained rad, reconnected, no leak. Refilled rad unscrewed flow valve leak again. Any ideas

No water, no leak. with water, leak= plumber

had this problem before. if its just a little drible after a couple of days it will seal itself. but i mean a slight drible.

they can be fiddly, even with lots of PTFE tape and sealer, but as said quite often they will seal themselves after a few days.

I usually find that a slight weep seals itself after a few days.As has been previously said ensure joint is clean and use ptfe tape and sealant. If that doesn't do the trick then consider adding something like Fernox leak sealant to the system as I have found this very effective.

Thank you to itfc,chas2008 and pauln90 very similar answers by all three.Have taken your advice and it seems to be working so far.The leak was not at the point where I had uncoupled and replaced the radiator but at the flow valve which had a slotted screw head. This I had screwed down as a precaution prior to uncoupling and it was when I UNSCREWED the valve that I discovered the leak There is a chromium dome shape cap that fits over the valve as a decoration/protection which is hand tightened. I am going to tape the thread and tighten with grips.Thank you again

its nice to see someone prepared to do there own plumbing, just a bit of confidence and a few tools is all thats needed. And the ' get out of jail card'. assorted sizes of compression blanks/plugs so if all else fails you can cap the pipe until such time as it can be sorted.
