Solo card use in Australia?

My daughter who has been in Australia for the last six months on a working visa with her boyfriend now needs to come home on her own. The relationship is still fine but it's complicated. Anyway, as I'm going to have to fund her flight does anyone know if I can pay the flight costs into her HSBC bank account can she pay for the flight using her HSBC Solo card.
Alternatively is it possible in these days of E-tickets for me to buy her ticket on-line for Air Malaysia and have the travel details/documents sent to her Hotmail account so that I won't have to mess around transferring funds from my account to hers? Many thanks in advance.

You can certainly pay into her HSBC account if you know the sort code/account number. Using it to pay for a flight - would have thought so but not 100% certain. If she's been using it to get cash almost certainly yes. If all else fails take the cash out over several days.

As to paying the fare online - maybe, but it's common for the card used to pay the fare having to be produced at checkin so it could well not work.

Western Union/Moneygram would be the ultimate fallback

Many thanks dzug. In the end I got in touch with Air Malaysia office in London and explained the situation. Turns out that after having paid for the ticket online here all my daughter has to do is show them scanned copies of my credit card and passport on arrival at the desk.

Apparently it's quite standard to show the credit card that was used to purchase the ticket in case it was purchased fruadulently. Because I purchased the ticket online here in Britain and had the e-ticket sent straight to my daughter in Australia she has to be able to prove that the credit card is in my name and as such she also has to have a photocopy of my passport. It's in the small print on the Malaysian Air website and I'm sure it's probably standard practice when buying air tickets this way. I'm not overly happy but I have to trust them in order to get my daughter home safely, sooner rather than later. Thanks for your words of caution though.
