I've just had a letter from the school saying that all the year sevens are going to "camp" in July for 3 days and to send in 35 to pay for it. Damn cheek!. Even if i had 35 to spare my daughter doesnt want to go. Can they make her?

You should ask what the 35 is for and whether it is a voluntary contribution, or if the trip is part of the curriculum.
If the former, then you don't have to pay, but the school should confirm that if enough VC is not received from parents then the trip will be cancelled. If its the latter, then it should be funded by the school or LA.
