More Wolfenstein??
Hi Folks
I have been a fan of the FPS genre since I started on the original Wolfenstein 3d on DOS!!!
Single player only
Done a lot of different ones like the Dooms , the different Quakes and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I prefer the id games set-up to the Call of Duty people (activision...ea games??) Also find the CoD series to be a bit of a rip-off in that they are so short compared to the id software games. Also not crazy about their AI setup where you get endless respawning of enemy until you go forward (just another inch sometimes!!) and your useless buddies watching you get slain. Not to mention enemies who just stand and look at you sometimes - even on veteran level!! (sheeeite! Didn't realise I was so peed off with CoD!! - sorry!)
Anyway........
My question/s
1. Does anyone know where I can buy/access (and how do I do it!) additional SINGLE PLAYER maps for any of the quakes/dooms and RtCW. I also seem to remember reading about a new Wolfenstein after RtCW?
2. Any suggestions as to other shooters I could try. I heard Crysis is not bad?
I have a Dell vostro 1500 laptop (dual core 2.0Ghz, 2Gb RAM, and Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT 512Mb) All the above ran fine on it (had to lower video settings on Call of Duty WaW otherwise no hassle)
Thanks Folks
Cheers

Howdy!!
P.turnbuckle - thanks for your reply - it will be most usefull once I get into things!! (been away on a break for a while)
I'm a single player fan - multi and live are not my cuppa. (single player live?? Hmmmmmm)
I play for sheer escapism and therefore get a bit bored with Oblivion type games. I like a game where you have to put a bit of thought into tactics, and also have to learn a bit as you go. But I do like to sling a bit of lead (or lightening bolts - whatever) around in the end.
Looked at the specs and checked at the game shop (they don't ALWAYS lie!) and I think my machine could handle Crysis. It handled Cod4 and the specs are basically the same
I played halflife a few times way back. I remember getting a bit p**d off for some reason. I will have another look.
Got a copy of the 1st Far Cry and will try that out when I finish CoD5.
Tell me about mods please! I am moderately computer-literate but a little wary of mods as I don't know the full set-up. Mods are like downloadable extra levels for a game - yes? I've looked at a few for Quake and Doom but never seemed to get to the download or they didn't work. Also never sure of which are single-player.
Anyway, I'll check out those sites and games you mentioned.
Thanks again
Cheers
