birthdays for dogs

It's my dachy's birthday today and I sang him Happy Birthday, bought him a packet of snacks and a toy to rip to shreds! People I've mentioned this to think I'm nuts buying birthday presents for dogs. Do other AB'ers buy their pets presents?

I don't do birthday presents for my cats but they always get Christmas presents, and I also buy for 2 friends' pets (cats and dogs).

I don't think you're nuts at all, you love your dog and he's part of your family.

Yes of course, I often buy my cats toys and the dogs have got a selection of balls and toys.  They need toys to keep them stimulated.

Unfortunately my menagerie is now deceased but when i had creechers,they all got prezzies...even the lizards!

We may all be nuts but at least we're in good company!

i buy my dog a present on it's birthday, easter, halloween and christmas. im not sure why i do this, i think its just a habit thats been passed down from my grandmother to me, i remember her doing it when i was little. everyone says im weird and that its a waste of money. but its only like a packet of treats that cost a few quid, a few quid less for me to spend on more life endangering habits *cough cough*

First of all, a very happy birthday to dachy and I never missed any of my dog's birthdays.  Our Ben always had a present, he was part of the family, it was his right!

I don't do bitrthday presents either, but our girl gets a gift at christmas....the way she is spoilt, every day is like a birthday for her

I don't tend to do their birthday mainly because i'm not precisely sure what day they were born on, but my cats get cats christmas stockings and special food at christmas.  My ex-flatmate also buys them christmas presents, and i buy pressie's for my friends dog. 

So if you're nuts, i guess there's a lot of us around :o)
