hi thanks for your answer, the reason i am asking is because i went to a salon for a spray tan and after she had done it she suggested as i was really fair haired i should have my eyebrows tinted. she did it and i had a horrendous reaction to it. i now wonder whether she should have done some sort of skin test first.
Yes, 24 hours before, they should do a skin test, by putting some of the dye behind your ear. If you got a bad reaction, they wouldn't go ahead with the dyeing.

thanks for the answer and sorry to be a pain but heres another question. she didnt do that and just went ahead and did it starightaway. my eyes swelled up and they were all little pus filled spot which started weeping . they eventually scabbed over and were really painful. do i have any come back on her do you think ? is it law to do these skin tests first ?
You should probably complain to the salon. It seems she hasn't really done her job properly. Did she at least ask if you've had eyebrow tints before?

i told her i had never had them done before nor had i dyed
my hair so she was well aware of the facts.
skin tests are applied before hair coloring & if all's well within 20mins then color can go ahead - but only if you request it. It's for you to determine your allergies and you agreed to coloring without testing...onus on you. An anti-histamine before treatment works for allergic clients.
I had my eyelashes tinted some time ago and the salon insisted on doing a skin test before doing the tint. You hear nasty stories about people have bad reactions to beauty treatments and I would suggest having a chat with the salon to guage their reaction. If they deal with your complaint well and reassure you about their practices, then I would leave it there, but if they seem unconcerned, I would consider taking it further and complaining to a local authority, who may send someone in to investigate this further.
Cheers Sue
