i have a petrol chainsaw which hasn't been used for about 2 years, i tried starting it earlier in the week and after a few pulls it started ok, however there is a lot of bleis/grey smoke comes out of it and when you press the throttle in the engine cuts out.

is the engine broke or can anyone give me an alternative explanation

is it burning up oil?

if its a 2 stroke the oil/petrol mix can deteriate after a long period of idleness, try new petrol and new oil first

its cutting out because its getting hot and seizing, if its a 4 stroke ignore all of the above ;D
you might need to add a tiny touch of light oil into the cylinder to get the compression up..
