The England World Cup Squad had a no 1 in 1970 (Mexico) with back home, but the 1982 Song This time (well get it right) only reached number 2. I cannot think if there were any players in the same line up.

Yes, 1970 world cup was Mexico, 1982 was Spain.
Nobody featured in both . As Thakey says, the 1982 song didn't get to number one in the main charts but I suppose it depends on which charts they are referring to as several music papers also had their own charts in those days.

Brotherhood of man had hits with two totally different line ups between 1970 (UNITED WE STAND) and 1978 (figaro),-that's the nearest that springs to mind.

Anther group that may have changed line ups is the Drifters but they didn't have a later number one.
