i want this to end

my son who is 8 now has been soiling his pants on and off since potty training really, ive been to see a specialist and followed her advce and for a while it worked. Over the past 2 or 3 weeks hes been doing it again, and his reasons for doing it are that hes playing his games or he was out playing and didnt want to come in. Tonight i went into his room to see if he wanted a snack before bed and it stank in there....he had soiled himself! I was furious, sent him to the bathroom to clear himself up and shower and to clean his own pants. I ,yelled, shouted, cried and even smacked him for doing it and out of temper i even told him that i was beginning to hate him {which i know i should never had said} but im really at my wits end with him. What bothers me the most though is that he sees no shame in doing it, he will even sit all day in his mess and go into friend houses knowing what hes done, it seems like he really doesnt care. Has anyone else had this problem, and what did you do? I cant go on like this anymore, its putting a strain on us all and im really starting to lose it.

oh my god what a bitch you are treb, how dare you make presumptions about her sons father and how saying he will probably turn to to drugs. Arent you a single parent yourself? What happened to their father, run them out of the house with your nagging? Or do you even know who the father is ? Its not nice is it? At the end of the day you gave your critisism, which i agree with gossipgirl that you were offensive and out of order and now you bombard her with a torent of abuse. You may not hit your child but you are a bully! leave the girl alone and get on with your own pathetic life.
more do gooders !!! ,,,, well how do you think the child feels then !!!!!!! am a aduilt and he is a child told mummy hates him ...and smacks him and screams at him ...and as for your comment about one parents ... yes mothers that are one parent !!! ,,, and as for nag lol lol nobody nags more than the females that all they do or complain lol lol
gossipgirl said sorry and that she didnt mean it, have you never said anything you didnt mean in the heat of the moment? You have no right to pass judgement on this woman, you dont know her and you were bang out of order to say that her son will end up on drugs etc. im a single parent and ive smacked my children when theyve been naughty, does that make me a bad mother? are my kids going to end up on drugs??????? be very careful what you say on AB as you will find that alot of people will disagree with your statements on here. AB is about giving constructive critisism and advice and you have bullied this woman.
to smack a kid is to control a person... are you saying if your child is unhappy with another childs comment he should hit him to control him ..and then in turn your son gets hit for hiting someone ?? then its fights knifes ... and you wonder why kids are like they are !!!!
to smack a child for maken mistakes in his pants is unexceptable he never hit or hurt anyone ...and she hit him ??? some parents knock me sick they think hiting is the answer ...well its not so dont call me ok... bad parents end off !!! you all come on hear with your comments about smack kids .....well if a parent hits his child so hard BUY MISTAKE and that child is in hospital ...is it the childs folt ??? .... so what you are saying is if you carnt stop him hit him ??? and you call yourselfs good parents .....leave you bullys to your sad lifes .. and keep hiting your kids and i hope they hit you in later life ... as you will deserve it !!!

hi GossipGirl,
My son is 8 and does exactly the same thing. We - my husband and I (no I'm not a single parent either!!) have been down the same route - specialists, psychologists, etc. There's nothing wrong with him physically or mentally - he just 'forgets' to go to the toilet. We've found the only thing that work's is getting him to go to the loo in the morning and the evening. I know just how frustrating this all is for you - hang in there, a little persistance and it will all turn out right in the end.
treborrobert - I'm sorry the mother of your child left you and your son. I'm sorry that's left you so bitter and twisted and I'm sorry you don't have a basic grasp of the English language. FYI, GossipGirl asked for help, not condemnation. Remember, when you point the finger, three are pointing back at you.
