He was doing a monologue of the conversation he had with a nurse from his perspective while in a mental institution. The film is heavily influenced from his art I believe which is also chaotic and a reflection of his mind. Personally I can't wait for it to come out on DVD as I thought it was excellently done and shown the chap for what he is, violent yes, but also pathetic and I'd like to see it again. I'd highly recommend it.
Just thought I'd add to the reviews!

The book is an interesting insight into his mind.
Obviously written from his perspective and with a slant towards him.
He is an enigma though , he certainly is the epitome of institutionalising a person.
He will not live outside of prison the rest of his life.
HE HAS ONLY SPENT 4 MONTHS OF THE LAST 35 YEARS OUTSIDE OF PRISON..
he was originally jailed for a bungled robbery in which he stole 26.18.
since he was imprisoned he has had his sentence repeatedly extended, for acts of violence.
he has been kept apart from other prisoners for the last 10 years.
there are some who have sympathy with him and say that people who steal millions in frauds or sex offenders or even murderers have served far less time than him.
Others will say the prison system has made him an animal.Cage a man for long enough and he will become like an animal.
Others that he was an animal and the prison has merely brought that out in him.
I dont know what exactly you expected it to be like as most folk know the story. He obviously has glamorised bits of his story , but hardly a date movie .

it will obviously glorify him.
not many folk ever write a completely honest autobiography theres always a bit of airbrushing of the picture
but if you spent 34 years and 8 months behind bars .the last 10 years of them seperated from other prisoners with only contact prison officers
wouldnt it effect your mind?
as for china saying hes pathetic?
i really dont see in what context she means that.
if she could explain?
perhaps pathetic was nthe wrong word?
sad perhaps
but then a matter of your opinion i guess?
