What is it called when money is brought into the home by each party in a marriage?

Premarital assets? I think that's how they're described in any prenuptual agreement anyway...
I really do not know about that for anyone else. But all I know in my case when I got married my wife told me,
'Darling, now that we are married and we both work I want to make it quite clear to you about money you and I bring into our marital Home. Remember, what is yours is mine and what is mine is me own!'
So the buck stopped on the spot we were.
