charles byrne
Does anyone have any info of my grandfather, Charles Byrne. It's believed he went from Scotland to Africa in the early 1900s. He was married to Janet Summers and they had two children, George and Mary. Thank you for any help.

Or do you mean he emigrated and started a new life in Africa? Africa was a vast country in the early 1900s, did he travel there with his family or did they stay in Scotland?
If he has a Scottish marriage certificate the certificate details will give you everything about his birth and janet's birth, including both sets of parents.

thanks for getting back to me Dot. I know absolutely nothing about Charles Byrne. To the best of my knowledge he left his wife,Janet and children, Mary and George(my father) and went off to Africa. Nothing more is known as my father refused to talk about him. It was a closed subject I believe. I believe that Mary (my late aunt) had a daughter but again I have no more details. Thanks again Dot for your reply. You're always very good at helping with this kind of thing. I need to do some digging in the Scottish and Irish records to see if I can find out anymore. Thanks again.

Hi Kloofnek. Thank you for getting back to me. My name is Janice Byrne. I know nothing more about my grand-father other than what I've already given. Sorry. His name was never mentioned, certainly not in my hearing anyway. I'd love to know more so if anyone could help it would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your info. I'll leave a message on the site. Thanks again.
