How much does an average sheep cost when sold at a cattle market?

Prices here in the western U.S. are often fairly typical of other foreign markets.

Last week, Slaughter Lambs: Mostly Choice 1-2: 80-100 lbs 110.00-132.00 (U.S. Dollars).
Feeder Lambs: Medium and Large 1-2: 25-50 lbs 100.00-129.00 USD.

The lower quality slaughter rams, ewes anf heavier weights in all classes are significantly lower, in the range of $39 to $59...

The market has been steady to lower and demand for future sales appears steady.

The prices above are per cwt (hundred weight).

Very variable. Depends where you are. Depends on breed and quality too. Last week in March ewes were selling in Flintshire for an average of �58, but the top price paid was �112

I'm not actually going to buy one. The question came up on a school trip, as we were driving past some sheep.

I didn't have the faintest idea.

This is probably a stupid question, but which is more expensive, a ewe, a ram or a lamb?

A registered breeding buck, also called a ram, is probably the most expensive...They're purchased to improve the flocks quality through the resultant offspring...
