Probably not but if you have dark hair you'll have to bleach it first and that will.  Mine is in pretty decent condition but I do spend a fair bit of time and money on intensive conditioners etc.  i say go for it but invest in a jar of conditioner before you start.  Also don't forget your clingfilm/plastic shower cap for while the colour is developing, old towels, and vaseline so you don't stain your forehead!
