Hand, foot and mouth is common in childhood and although mild, is quite contagious. Symptoms are rashes on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, and sores in the mouth, which may turn into mouth ulcers. There may a fever and sore throat, too. Normally no medical treatment is needed and most sufferers are better in a week.
