messy plumber !

Hello My plumber has let mastic/sealant spill in our brand new bath and sink ... he was basically sloppy and I am livid ! I can't get the stuff off and I don't want to use a sharp tool to scrape it off if at all possible .. does anyone know of a product I could use to take off the blobs ??

I don't know of anything myself, but my husband is the DIY 'expert' in our house. However, providing you use a stanley blade or something else equally sharp, once you've lifted one edge, the whole piece should all peel off anyway. If you use something too blunt you risk not lifting it from the base, in which case you'll stil be left with a residue; on the other hand, if you have something sharp enough but don't use it carefully enough, you could cause damage to your suite - or wherever the blobs are.

If he was a proper plumber, should he really be leaving that mess in your house? Couldn't you complain to the company? If he's self-employed, then surely he's taking the p***

what kind of sealant is it ? clear ? white ? and what type of bath is it ? ceramic, plastic etc?

the sink and bath are ceramic, the sealant is white. We also have some messy clear sealant around the shower cubicle smeared on the tiles which I would like cleaned up. Scraping really isn't an option with a bath and sink as expensive as they were !

I like to use battery acid, But only use from a car.

Hallo - This must be, I suspect, a silicone based sealant, pretty well any other domestic sealant is fairly easily removed by elbow grease.

Assuming silicone based (it's fairly easy to tell because if you prod it with your finger nail, or similar, it will have the consistency of a pencil eraser).  You can obtain proper silicone sealant remover from many DIY outlets or plumbers merchants.  Hope this helps.
