but yes it is indeed illegal
involving consensual adults it is generally believed
that all such behaviour is wrong and should be
covered by the criminal law" - seem to fit quite nicely into your discussion.
see paper here http://www.archive2.official-documents.co.uk/d ocument/cm56/5668/5668.pdf
I find it absolutely amazing that if someone mentions students or universities these days, it is inevitable that some idiot is going to get on his high horse and sing it from the roof tops about how all us students are thick as *****!!! Any opportunity to start whining about this!!! Let's all face facts, if you don't go to uni, people will moan about how we are not educated enough. BUT if we do, then you still have to moan that "everybody goes to university these days, not just the intelligent ones"....did I get that right HAMMERHEAD?
Its like a lose-lose situation with you people. GET OFF YOUR SOAP BOX!!!!
Not that I should have to justify my reasons to you, but if you oh-so-intelligent people had read the question properly, I clearly stated that my essay was on legal and moral ethics and NOT even in slightest bit to do with incest issues. I simply wished to mention this as a passing example so I thought I would post the question here....bloody wished I hadn't now!!!
Please dont be put off posting in the future; we arent all as rude as those that have appeared here, and do get back to us on your essay if you have any discussion points you would like to share as I personally find the subject you have chosen quite interesting and have recently read some good journal articles about why we use the criminal law to control certain types of behaviour which I would be happy to dig the refs out to if you think it might help the paper.
Good luck with the essay,
All the best - undercovers

I second what undercovers said there. No need for that totally unprovoked attack. I mean...this isn't www.opinionbank.com
However, now that I think of it...perhaps someone should set up that site...!
a couple of typically bigoted answers from a few stereotypically opinionated people on here. Only 'intelligent' people go to university? So these are people who go and read philosophy/history/politics....blah blah blah....
What about people who see the world in a different way, who want to study the arts, photography, fashion, etc. Aren't they allowed because they didn't pass their 11+? (Which I'm guessing most of these bigots are the age to have passed, judging by their opinions.)
By the way, I have a BSc (Hons) in Graphic Media (and no, that's no media studies). I, for one, know that most people don't have the imagination to know what I earn 30K a year for doing at the age of 25.....whilst paying back my student loans.
No one, apart from my parents, supported me while I studied. The state did not see fit to pay me. I got a job and supported myself. I have not claimed benefits, I have always been employed.
If anyone dares to tell me I was a layabout student, or that anyone at university does not have a right to be there, I will scream. Unlike school, people who go to university chooses to do so. Anyone who finds it's not for them soon drops out. Why is it that young people with modern degrees from modern universities are regarded with such derision? Probably because those that are deriding are jealous they never got the chance to try something different.
Shortylilly, I've always believed incest to be illegal because of the physiological complaints that the results of incestuous liaisons might suffer.

I remember doing a similar essay title but we looked at Murder. Insofaras only in one tribe ,historically, muder was seen as a good thing. The old jurisprudence is still rearing its ugly head eh???
Just for you info though, Up until the recent Sexual Offences Act 2003, incest was legal between grandmother and grandson. This was because it was believed a grandmother was beyond child bearing age. Therefore, there was no problem with in-breeding.
Also if you need a laugh in the essay (did me no harm) use
Q What's the definition of a council estate virgin?
A Somebody who can outrun their father and brother
Shortlilly, I am sorry you are getting attacked but it is such a taboo subject in many countries. Did you choose this yourself or was it part of your thesis?
Incest is illegal. There have been court cases here and worldwide concerning court cases (often many years later) where a child now reaching adulthood has brought a parent to court for sexual demands on them as a child.
It is also illegal for brother and sister to have relationships and closer relatives are not allowed to marry. If you did a Google search under the name of incest or incestuous relationships I am sure that you would get links to more information. Hope that helps.
I thought people went to university to try to become intelligent...
The entry level to get into uni is often little more than a few good GCSEs - hardly genius level.
Universities are for everyone, not just clever people.
Although some of the posters here need never go to university as clearly they already know it all...
