My black-haired cat has blue skin, I noticed it just the other day and when you pull the hair apart and look at the skin it's blue, very vivid blue. It's weird! Does any one have any idea what it is? She's perfectly healthy, it just seems quite curious!

My last two black cats have had blue skin - must be to do with the fur colour. Very noticable when they had the patch shaved when they were spayed.
My cat is black and white and I swear blind that the skin under his black hair is a different colour to the skin under the white hair. Backed up by the fact that his paws are pink with black splodges on them.
Maybe your cat used to belong to the smurfs?
I'm bored and my long haired cat needs a groom = bad combination.

Maybe I should shave her and see what is under ALL that hair. She is pretty feisty though - I may have to go to A&E later.

Maybe reading the Sunday papers would be safer all round.
wolf *lol* :D I am not sure how to explain your cat's skin phenomenon Hannie! But I do know my Border Collie's skin colour corresponds with his fur "patches", and that the roof of his mouth has black patches too. Odd hey?! Is it a pigmentation thing?

Maybe it has something to do with protecting the skin from the sun,as black fur may absorb more heat.-but then the skin may feel even hotter.........an interesting question.
My little black cat has blue skin, too, as did my very first cat (she was black as well) whom I had as a child, but I remember thinking it was odd that she had blue skin. The others have pink skin - they're torties and one is black & white.
