Does anyone remember a docu-soap (probably one of the first) which was screened over six episodes in approx. 1986 called either "The Marriage" or "The Wedding"?  I think it was directed by the late Desmond Wilcox and it was about a couple's engagement, wedding and the first year of their marriage.  The theme tune was sung by Su Pollard from Hi De Hi.  I just wondered what happened to the couple involved?  I found it interesting at the time as I was studying sociology and relationships.

Hi Binky

I believe the programme was called "The Marriage" like you mentioned & the theme tune which was sung by Su Pollard was called"Starting Together".However the down side is i haven't been able to find any info on this programme.I myself thought that Desmond Wilcox was involved with this show but i haven't been able to find anything.

Were the couple featured in the programme a Welsh couple called possilby, karen and Mark???? she was a blonde lady and he was a dark head man with a moustache. Am i thinking of the right people and programme here?

I

This is a coincidence as I drove past the Hotel where the husband worked on Thursday - Churchills Hotel in Llandaff (on the outskirts of Cardiff) and I said to my wife, do you remember that show on TV about the bloke who used to (possibly still does?) work in that hotel - the wife was blonde and the husband was a stocky fellow with a moustache and a big Rugby fan - it was definitely done by Desmond Wilcox and from memory was a little bit parochial in its welshness :-)
I seem to remember that they hit the papers a few years after the programme.  I think he'd been caught having an affair??? Can't remember if they split, or if they stayed together. Not much help, sorry.

Thanks Guys, I think we are all thinking of the same programme.  Yes Neenee, I think their names were Karen and Mark.  They did go on to appear on an afternoon chat show four or five years later with Mavis somebody and they had three or four kids by then.  Don't remember anything about an affair or them being Welsh, but do remember he was into sports.  If anyone else has a better memory, perhaps they can enlighten us.

Su Pollard was doing a PA at a nightclub in Manchester and she said she was to sing that theme tune. I said (in a reather loud drunken voice) "Oh NO". She dragged me up on stage and I danced with her whilst she sang it.
