That is an interesting article, keyplus 90. My opinion that Muslim women are more oppressed than western women has not been overturned by it, but it may help to amend my present view as to the reasons for the wearing of the hijab and other coverings. Thank you for posting.

Julnar - You are more than welcome. I try my best to give proper information on any subject and then let people decide. Because I believe that you should not call in a doctor when your boiler is broken only because doctor is more educated than a heating engineer. Same way many people always go to anti websites when they are looking or information. Although nothing wrong in that but then you must try to find unbiased direct information too. I always request people who are interested in finding information about Islam, if they could watch SKY channel 820. It is free channel and mostly in English and the main objective is to get rid of misconceptions about Islam on fact based information.

Would I be right in thinking tht it is the custom of SA for women to completely cover up - it is also the law in SA for women not to drive - makes sense if you have resticted sightlines - I would make that law over here too.

As a teacher (god forbid) I would refuse to discuss a child with anyone whou could not prove to me they were that childs parent.

I went on holidays for few days and little birdie is happy in thinking that he won the war. But my offer is still there. Lets sit and have a debate face to face. Or you do not have confidence apart from long useless posts without full background knowledge like this one��.

I quoted Qur'an 4:11 which says, 'Allah directs you in regard of your Children's (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females.... These are settled portions ordained by Allah'

Okay, so put simply, Allah has ordained that it takes two women to be same as one man. Or put another way, a women is only half a man. A women is less than a man. By 50%. Apparently.

In Islam woman gets half of the inheritance because in Islam men are supposed to take responsibility for looking after the families financially and women look after the kids (so no un-attended yobs without a proper looking after, no junk food, no obesity) to start with. Women�s financial needs are the responsibility of father and brother�s before marriage and then of husband and sons. She does not have to work 9 to 5.

So she gets her share and keeps 100% of that as she is not responsible for paying for any thing. Whereas her brother gets twice as much (inheritance) as he is still responsible to run the family and most of the time that money is spent back into the family affairs.

So Allah has ordained two women equal to one man (only for this purpose) for a reason.

To answer the question, the school is absolutely right in insisting that everyone entering the premises be easily identified, so yes, it is entirely fair.
