I have just spent the afternoon at A & E with my son who could'nt breath due to asthma attack brought on by his hayfever.

He was put on a nebulizer - and as he fractured his foot a week ago, they decided to take off the old cast and replaster another one on, but junfortunately the male nurse made the plaster too hot, so there is my son, in muffled tones, due to the nebulizer, telling them his leg is melting - they quickly cut the new plaster off and realised his leg was burnt.

After his leg cooled down, they reapplied another plaster cast.

We came away after 3 hours, with a prescription for 2 inhalers and anti allergy tabs. The nebulizer treatment did'nt work that well but they could'nt give him another shot as his heart was racing a bit.

He suffers badly with hayfever every year, but this is the first time he has had trouble breathing - it really scared me.

I have just come in from driving around trying to find a chemist that is open - found Boots who have a window kiosk open from 6.p.m till 12.p.m and while I am getting the prescription I get a parking ticket !

What a day !!

It's surprising the hospital didn't call social workers about your son - having injuries as well as the asthma? lol

But seriously, poor sod. I'm so lucky I have no allergies or the like.

Oh den you poor thing. I was feeling sorry for myself cos I was so bored today but sounds better than your day. Hope your son is better tomorrow and his foot heals ok. Pour yourself a nice long drink and hope the rest of your weekend is ok.

He now has a tempreture of 102 - but has stop coughing, so perhaps the nebulizer treatment did work after all.

Oh Den, what an awful day! Can you at least appeal against the ticket? I hope your son is better soon, I'm sure he will be tucking into easter eggs in no time!

My brother is asthmatic, and had terrible attacks when he was younger ( I am 3 years younger so dont remember too much, thankfully)

Yes, I will appeal against the ticket Phillipa - I was going to punch the car park attendant after the day I had, but thought perhaps a night in the cells might just tip me over the edge.

A friend of mine has asthma & because we all know our bodies, he went to the Dr as he had a chest infection brewing.

There was a locum Dr who refused to give him the antibiotics! When the resident Dr returned, he immeditately gave him the pills.

It's been 5 mths & he is still having trouble. His ears were blocked & he needed grommets, he still has a lingering cough.

They can be quite human sometimes especially under the circumstances

What was annoying Cath - the car park adjacent to Boots is free from 6.p.m onwards - I parked at 5.58 p.m and the bast$$d still put the ticket on my car - I should have punched him.................
