Every Sunday a box appears on my desktop which says cannot find file for scan maybe on a separate disk. Clicking browse button it opens up my documents and the file type reads Scan msi.
I have no idea what this is for or what program is generating this command.
Help would be appreciated.

You may be made schedule for weekly scanning. To get rid this error message you need to remove all virus scanning schedule.
You can check your installed antivirus program settings.
Is it a red box?
your computer should be scheduled weakly scan with the installed anti virus software.
so that the anti virus software scan the computer on every Sunday and give the status of the scanning.

it is safe for you to scan the computer weakly.
so that the computer is safe from the viruses.
I disagree johnpol: scanning weakly is no good- you need to use a strong effective scanning facility .
if you don't want to scan the computer in weakly . you can scheduled the anti virus again as monthly .
but the monthly scanning is a long time , you will only know the status of the threats in the computer only once in the month. so to protect the computer from the threats . scanning should be scheduled in a weakly.

but you can scheduled according to you .

go to the programs >accessories>system tools> scheduled .

follow the intstruction and set the scheduled as you want.
Ahh- you meant scan weekly not weakly
if you don;t want to scan your computer weakly,

you can again scheduled the anti virus as you want .

from the scheduler you can scheduled any program according to you .
Sorry johnpol, but once again I'm puzzled by what you are saying. I'm quite happy with weekly scans.
